Just like the vehicles that we use on the land, ships and boats sometimes require maintenance. The job of most mechanics is similar even though they work on different types of equipment. One thing that they all have in common is the need to have a supply of spare parts.
Marine shops often keep a supply of spare parts for boats. Larger ships may be more difficult or take longer to locate parts for, but there are marine spare parts suppliers available for ships and for boats. One of the biggest differences between a ship and a boat is that a boat can fit onto a ship, but a ship can not fit onto a boat.
Boats generally stay closer to the shore, or in smaller bodies of water such as ponds or lakes. Ships usually travel in the oceans. There are some marine shops that keep a supply of spare parts for cruise vessels and also deal in cargo vessel parts and equipment.
Cruise ships are popular for vacations, and usually have several great choices for dining on board. Ships restaurants are traditionally organized into two dinner services per day, early dining and late dining. Passengers can make reservations for a set dining time for the entire cruise, diners also have the option of just showing up to eat whenever they want (but may have to wait for a free table). Most of the time cruises begin and end at the same port; transportation is not the main purpose of a cruise. Ocean liners are usually the mode of transportation for moving people across oceans.

I never thought about spare parts for cruise ships or boats at all. It makes sense that they would have them, I just never thought about it before.
